Grab your teammates because you are about to burn your mark into the history books by barreling over, through, and around obstacles towards the finish line in your own totally original, totally homemade, recycled vehicle. Vehicles can range from realistic replica cars to anything the imagination can conjure up. Be creative! Points are awarded according to SHOWMANSHIP, SPEED & CREATIVITY!

Teams of 2-5 are welcome to participate.. Grab your friends, co-workers, classmates, or family members. Under 21? Thats ok. However, there can only be one driver.

We will host building days leading up to the big event to give you ideas for how you can build a recycable derby car.
Build Your Vehicle
Upcycle, Recycle, Reuse
Pull it, push it, drag it, sled it, roll it...
We don't care how you move your non motorized vehicle, but you have to get every piece across the finish line.
Race and Win
Prizes will be EPIC
Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and the EPIC FAIL. Multiple judges will be scoring based on three categories. The more competition, the better the prizes.

All funds raised through this event will benefit Coastal Connections and their Vero Goes Zero initiative to build an environmentally sustainable community.
Coastal Connections, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to protect coastal habitats for sea turtle survival by educating and connecting people to the environment.

Just want to come watch the fun?
You do not have to race to enjoy Recycle Derby. Everyone is invited to cheer on your favorite team! Recycle Derby is an afternoon educational event full of amenities and acitvties for everyone to enjoy. In addtion to the main race happening in the front parkng lot and lawn, there will be multiple vendors lining the street with recycled, upcycled, and environmentally friendly creations, plus delicious food trucks filling the road.
Plus, $1 from every beverage purchased during the event and raffle tickets will benefit Coastal Connections and their Vero Goes Zero initiative.

Recycle Derby Rules

Your derby vehicle must be less than
3 ft wide, 5 ft tall, and 6 ft long. -
All entries must be homemade from a
minimum of 75% recyclable, upcycled, or
re-useable materials. Modified carts
or existing vehicles are not permitted. -
You must be 21 or older to earn prizes including
alcohol of any kind. -
At least one adult must be on the teams
with individuals under the age of 18. -
Teams must consist of a minimum of 2
people & a maximum of 4 people
(including the driver). -
No more than 1 person can be inside "driving" the
derby vehicle for the race. -
Drivers are required to wear a helmet at all times
while racing.
- Derby vehicles must be powered by the
strength of your team. No stored power
or external energy sources including
engines, petrol, batteries, electrical cords,
or catapults. Afterburners are not allowed.
- Drivers are not allowed to be physically
attached or enclosed in any kind of
capsule or cockpit that they can’t escape from.
- Please select building materials carefully
to ensure that your machine can be
recycled at the conclusion of the event. Every
team must recycle/upcycle their vehicle. A list of
recyclable materials can be provided
as guidance to inspire you.
- If your team does not show up, you forfeit the race.
This is a fundraiser event and all registration
donations are nonrefundable.

YES - WooHoo! We are so excited, plus registering your team online before the Derby saves $$$. We cannot wait to see what vehicle you create. Get registered using the form below. Make sure to follow all instructions and know your team members.
MAYBE - No matter if you just haven't gotten your team together, or you need a little inspiration first, you can take your time. You can always pay the late registration fee ($50) on-site from 12:00-12:45 pm on Derby Day.
NO, WATCHING SEEMS LIKE MORE FUN - We understand and we are still so excited to have you join us at the event. There will be incredible vendors, delicious food trucks, and other event activities you can enjoy to give support Coastal Connections.
